Oh man. I need to show this to the Hippie. The tip on opening both ends of the tomato paste can has probably never even occurred to him!

I used to do the same thing with cans of jellied cranberry sauce and then you could lay it sideways and cut it into nice little round slices. But for some reason, the cranberry canners of America™️ decided to make the bottoms of the cans flat and they can’t be opened that way any more. I grieve every Thanksgiving because although I’m capable of making cranberry sauce from scratch, I really love that canned shit!

I really had no idea that canned conundrums so deeply impact the modern psyche. It's just the way I started opening the tom paste cans the first few times I attempted sauce. It irked me that I was leaving behind so much rich tomato-ey goodness, so I said, "Hey, why the f*ck not open both ends? I'm a grown-ass adult now, doin' it MY WAY!" I also learned the trick of leaving the bottom can lid in there so I could easily push the paste through with the stem of a wooden spoon. Now, mind you—you have to extricate that sharp-edged lid afore it plops in the sauce, but BABY! Eureka! It leaves the inside of the can glimmering with not an iota of paste! #Babsielifeproblems #Babsielifediscoveries
