When the So-Called Holy Twist Love Beyond Recognition
Two photos.
If you were a child, which one would your child’s heart run to?
It’s a simple question, unless you twist it out of shape.
Story Time
Once upon a time (February 29, 2020, to be exact), my wife, Pam, and I joined the Parasol Patrol’s protection of children and parents attending a story hour at the Broomfield (Colorado) Public Library.
You might ask, “Why do families need ‘protection’ for a story hour?”
The answer is …
Perversion
The Online Etymology Dictionary notes that the English verb, “to pervert,” literally means to “turn the wrong way, turn about,” from the Latin per “away”+ vertere “to turn, turn back, be turned.” In other words, to twist something from its otherwise healthy nature, into something ugly and sad.
In the photo on the left, a knot of Catholic protestors proclaims “Dear God: Let NOT the little children be perverted by Drag Queen story hours!” A group with that sign protested the story hour on Feb. 29, plus a poster that read “Drag Queens Groom Children.” (FTR, Drag-Queen toilette is more impeccable than a finishing school or cotillion. What better groomers of children?)
Added Cast of Characters
Another knot of protesters came in riot gear, as well as a street preacher with a megaphone, to shout vile things. In turn, Antifa formed a wall of black-garbed bodies around the riot-gear kooks and trolled the preacher with squeaky toys. Last, the Broomfield Police attended in force.

The Parasol Project
One more group was in attendance, outnumbering the others 8-to-1, The Parasol Patrol (PP), whose mission is
to protect our children’s eyes and ears from the hateful speech of protesters. We provide hearing protection and use our umbrellas to peacefully and silently walk in between protesters, performers and guests.”
PP brought a brass band, Frankie Stardust Unicorn, all manner of colorful garb, and a parade of rainbow umbrellas so families could enter the library shielded from the protestors.
Pam and I were in escorts of five persons each. We went to families’ vehicles, asked if they wanted shielding, offered ear protection, and twirled our parasols around them from car to library door. From the kids’ delighted faces, they were having the best time. One of the families even brought us donuts.
Mission accomplished. But why did it have to be a mission at all?
Who’s Sexualizing Whom?
The Catholics, the street preacher, and the riot-gear kooks protested the “sexualization of children by perverts.” Odd thing was, the only sexual messages transmitted were cast by those protesters. Inside, the Drag Queen read several children’s books. We PPs held a party of color and happy sounds, without so much as saying “Ooo, look at the birds and the bees!”
I still can’t understand how a person dressed in fashionable attire invokes anything to do with sexual practice. To get to that point, you have to twist things beyond recognition, spouting words like (and these were the mildest), “You convert children into sexual deviants!” “Your colorful clothing sends children to hell.”
To twist something into a shape it was never meant to be requires you obsessing on the perverted thing. You doing the twisting. You creating, nurturing, and harboring the tortuous end-product from your own psyche and projecting it onto others. You thus try to convert little ones to your hideous twist on what otherwise is play, joy, song, love.
If They’re Here, Who’s Running Hell?

Look at the two pictures. Which one, child, is closer to a heaven you want to attend and a life right-now you want to live?
