Fuckin’ Chucky: Why We Should Feel Rotten Right Now
(Spoiler Alert: Things Will Be As Good as We Dare Imagine)
(Spoiler Alert: Things Will Be As Good as We Dare Imagine)
We’re so earnest right now. ’Cuz we’re supposed to be. But the girl in this vid-loop is not doing a “s’posed to.” Fuckin’ Chucky bit her in the head.
Fuckin’ CoVID-19/the Economy/[insert here] Bit Us in the Head
Under stress, we keep only one thing in our minds. For some, stress or not, that’s their regular way of functioning (unfortunately, a few of them are elected officials). Some of us can keep only the economy in frontal view. For others, it’s the virus. For still others, it’s our latest nightmare.
The “one thing” is the “s’posed-to” that Chucky Girl tells to fuck off.
We Never Lost Our Imagination
In Untamed, Glennon Doyle notes that “imagination is not where we go to escape reality but where we go to remember it”:
In order to move our culture forward, revolutionaries have had to speak and plan from the unseen order inside them. For those of us who were not consulted in the building of the visible order, igniting our imagination is the only way to see beyond what was created to leave us out. If those who were not part of the building of reality consult only reality for possibilities, reality will never change. We will keep shuffling and competing for a seat at their table instead of building our own tables. We will keep banging our heads on their glass ceilings instead of pitching our own huge tent outside. We will remain caged by this world instead of taking our rightful place as co-creators of it.
Constructed reality grooms us to say of our Chucky-esque nightmare, “It was just a dream” or “My subconscious self was telling me …” or “[I don’t dare speak my ‘unseen order’ out loud!]”
Fuckin’-Chucky Warrior-Girl speaks from imagination. She had a dream. Chucky bit her head. “Fuckin’ Chucky!”
Reality Is Not Something Outside of Us
For Chucky Girl, reality isn’t something separate that happens to her. It’s not CoVID-19 or the economy or certain dumbass elected officials.
We make reality.
Chucky Girl calls bullshit on the “one thing” that dominates our mind in this time of stress, that eclipses our sun, that keeps us from enjoying the forest because of the poison sumac on the tree in front of us.
First News Flash: Chucky is a Fucker. Eclipses blind you if you stare at them. Trees don’t move; we do.
Call A Fucker, “Fucker”
Times will get better. We can’t right now see that ’cuz of the shit-storm that’s CoVID-19, the economy, idiots thinking they’re in charge, and personal struggles. Right now, though, the times hurt like a fucker. So, call ’em what they are—Fuckin’ Chucky.
S’posed to Avoid Pain?
Constructed reality says we’re “s’posed to” act like we aren’t hurting. We’re “s’posed to” fix it by blaming ourselves, then avoid whatever pain next Chucky-fucks us.
But, in the “s’posed to” scenario, reality always happens to us.
A Better Reality: Name the Pain
Second News Flash: We build reality by calling Chucky a fucker and proclaiming a better way that proceeds directly from what we honestly feel.
Fuck Chucky! We’ll not let pain be the one thing that blinds us. Let’s feel it. Claim it. Name it.
And build a reality … where we are so real with ourselves, pain, and each other that we co-create the world instead of acting like it’s Chucky fuckin’ us.
